Artists Rendering of what we hope to see when the actual stuff is announced
Yep, its July, which means that LeafsHQ has two more jerseys to give out in contests! Last month we gave out one on the forums, and another on twitter. Thing was though, we got a minor but not significant effect on our twitter account, and the forums went back to being a no-mans-land almost immediately after the contest ended. So we need some guaranteed results, here!
So here’s what we’re going to do. These 2 jerseys (any size, any team, almost any design Exception, ironically, is the Leafs home and away for this year, as most retailers don’t have them yet) will hit contest mode once the following things happen.

LeafsHQ + MarliesHQ Twitter Contest!

First off, if you’re hoping for some actual stuff, in terms of content, don’t worry – I’m working on a pile of articles right now, and at least one will be up tonight.
Now, to the good stuff. The pair of contests that we had on our forums recently ended, and one person won both of them. Per the rules, they only get one jersey, but this leaves us with an extra one to give away.
So I figure, what better way to get some new people on here than to grow our twitter accounts for both sites? So here’s our contest.
Downtime and Slow Speeds

As you’ve probably seen over the past few days, this site’s been nothing short of a disaster in terms of working properly. Half the time its running incredibly slow, and now we’re having massive gaps of downtime like todays mess, that took the site down for a few hours.
Just thought I’d let you all know that the issue is the fact that we’re starting to outgrow our hosting, and are running beyond our means. Which is a good thing, as it means the site is starting to become popular, and we love all the readers for it. Sadly, this means that growth will be met with “rolling blackout” downtime on occasion until we can afford to upgrade to something better.
Right now, we average about 2 hours per day where our hosting account puts on the theoretical emergency brake to slow the site down, and unknown in terms of total crashing and slowdown.
Not exactly sure how we’ll be funding the upgrade just yet, by the way. There may end up being a few more ads on here to supplement the SportsK ones already up, I’m not sure. Going to have to figure out something though, no doubt.
By the suggestion of tweeter NastyKnate, I threw a paypal donation button up in the corner. If you want to use it, that’s awesome, but this will be the only post I’m going to mention it in, merely because I don’t like the concept of asking my readers for money. We should be doing a service for you, not the other way around.
My best suggestion regarding everything is just to continue reading, and if the site is down, merely check back later and hope for the best. Hopefully we’ll figure out a solution to this soon that doesn’t involve degrading the reading experience on here.
On that note, thanks a ton for actively reading the site, everyone. Its grown beyond anything I ever expected, and I hope we can continue to be a more enjoyable site as things go forward.
Help Wanted and Article Suggestions

I never thought the site would become popular enough that I’d have to write this article, but here we are, and I’m happy this is the case.
LeafsHQ has been getting a lot of traffic lately, and as such, we want to have more consistantly frequent posts on here. Currently, its Raskie and myself as frequent writers, but who knows how long we can keep up with writing massive articles on such a consistant basis.
Ideally, I want to get 6 or 7 writers, who will write at least once a week, meaning no matter what, the site will have an article up every day.
Articles must hit at least 500 words each, show solid opinion of the game, and be largely grammatically and spelling accurate. The occasional mistake is fine, they can be corrected, but I don’t want a complete mess every time someone publishes an article.

Also of note – I’ve had a lot of ideas for articles lately, but I want to know what the readers are interested in reading about. Any suggestions? Leave them in the comments and you may just see an article based off of it.
